The Believer's Daily Remembrancer
November 16

"Arise and depart, for this is not your rest."
(Micah 2:10)

There is no permanent home for the believer here- we are on a journey through enemy territory to heaven. A voice is daily sounding in our ears, "Arise and depart."

Each day we should be making progress. Don’t lay up treasures on earth- but lay them up in heaven!

If you are making good spiritual progress you can expect trouble from the "world".

David, in foretelling the Lord’s sufferings wrote "My enemies surround Me like a pack of dogs-----they have pierced My hands and feet." (Psalm 22:16)

Remember "if we suffer with Him, we shall also reign with Him." (2 Timothy 2:12)

"Saviour, since of Zion’s city* (*heaven)
I through grace a member am,
Let the world deride or pity,
I will glory in Your Name.
Fading are the world’s best pleasures,
All it’s boasted pomp and show;
Solid joys and lasting treasures
None but Zion’s children know."
(John Newton, hymn "Glorious Things of Thee Are Spoken")
