"I will treat you kindly."
(Genesis 32:9)

So the Lord promised Jacob; and the promise made to our fathers, He will fulfil for us. Such a promise does not exclude troubles of all kinds, and still the Lord deals well with us.

The promise guarantees that good will come through our trials; that grace will be given to strengthen us, and all our needs will be met.

What a comfort to know that God treats us kindly in health and in sickness, in life and in death; in time and through eternity. We have good reason to be filled with confidence, contentment and thanksgiving!

Jacob, though tried, found the Lord faithful, and so shall we.

Let us rejoice that God has said "I will treat you well. I will save you with an everlasting salvation. I will be your God and your glory."

"Be still my soul: the Lord is on your side;
Bear patiently the cross of grief or pain;
Leave to your God to order and provide;
In every change He faithful will remain.
Be still, my soul: your best, your heavenly Friend
Through thorny ways leads to a joyful end."
(K.V. Schlegel, hymn "Be Still, My Soul")
